How We Work
At Island Insight Wealth, our process is designed to be straightforward, transparent, and built around your life — not the other way around. We move at your pace and keep communication simple so you always know where you stand.
-
We start with a relaxed 45-minute conversation (virtual or in-person) where you share your goals and situation. You’ll get a feel for how we think, and we’ll make sure we’re a good fit before moving forward.
-
We gather the full picture of your finances and build a comprehensive, coordinated plan that covers your investments, retirement strategy, taxes, cash flow, and life goals.
-
Using our quantitative edge and institutional-grade tools, we design a risk-managed portfolio built specifically for you — with low-cost stocks and ETFs through Schwab.
-
We handle the paperwork and implementation together, then meet regularly (at least annually) to review progress, make adjustments, and keep you on track.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Our fee schedule is fully transparent and competitive:
1.25% on the first $500,000
1.00% on the next $500,000 (up to $1 million)
0.80% on assets above $1 million
Fees are calculated quarterly and billed in arrears. Because we build portfolios exclusively with low-cost stocks and ETFs through Schwab, there are no hidden layer fees or expensive mutual fund loads. Exact fees and any minimums are discussed during your discovery call and confirmed in your advisory agreement.
-
Because we develop our quantitative models in-house and use only low-cost stocks and ETFs held directly at Schwab, we typically avoid the third-party model fees or higher-cost fund expenses that many other advisory relationships include. As a result, our all-in costs are generally lower than what clients often experience with those structures.
-
Yes — the majority of our meetings are virtual for convenience, though in-person meetings are always available in the Kansas City area.
-
We work with individuals and families who are building wealth, approaching retirement, or already retired and focused on making sure they never outlive their income. Most of our clients value clear communication, institutional-level analysis, and a low-pressure, relationship-first approach.
